August ’17 Beauty Buys

I’ve been experimenting a little with new beauty purchases this month so I thought I’d consolidate them into one post.

The first product I picked up and have been impressed with, is the Nivea Sensitive Caring Micellar water. I have always loved the smell of Nivea products, but have been put off in the past by the body moisturisers which I found to be quite greasy. However, I’ve enjoyed this product so far; it’s really fresh feeling/smelling and it removes make-up really easily. I also found it to be quite moisturising. The size of the product was the first thing that interested me, as I use micellar water a lot so generally have to buy at least one bottle a month if not more. This Nivea bottle is 400ml, so you get a lot of product for your money.

The next product I’ve been loving has been a detangling shower brush from Primark. I’ve got long, thick hair, which can be a pain when it comes to washing as it gets extremely knotted. I picked up this brush as it was only £1 so even if it didn’t work, it didn’t really matter. However, I’ve actually found that this is really useful and has been really helpful in sorting out my hair. It also has a little handle on the back that makes it easier to keep hold of when it’s wet, which is handy. I don’t know what I ever did without it!

As well as focusing on the condition of my hair, I’ve also been trying to use up my hoard of body butters. I seem to have accumulated quite a few in the last year from presents and the odd impulse buy! So, I started with a Body Shop vanilla body butter. I don’t actually think they sell this anymore, but I have included it anyway as it’s made me aware of how good the Body Shop’s products are! This body butter not only smells INSANE, it also absorbed quickly and left my skin feeling extremely soft. I would apply it at night and still be able to smell it the next morning. I would definitely pick up another body butter from the Body Shop after this one!

In regards to moisturisers, I picked up the below moisturiser by Garnier in the hope that it would help with my misbehaving face. I have combination skin; it can be dry, it can be greasy, it can basically be whatever it deems will most ruin my day! I’d read good reviews of the Moisture Protect+ so thought I’d give it a try. In all honesty, I wasn’t overly impressed. It did have a lovely smell and wasn’t harsh on my sensitive skin. However, it was extremely greasy and didn’t absorb well, which is disappointing as it was advertised as ‘fast-absorbing’. I found that it also made me break out quite a lot. I probably wouldn’t purchase this again, but if you have very dry skin, this could be a great moisturiser. It just wasn’t suited to my skin.

Finally, I have been loving MUA’s makeup range lately. Yes, it is cheap and in some cases you get what you pay for. However, I recently stumbled across this felt-tip eyeliner which I think is great for the price. This is the first eyeliner I have found that doesn’t transfer up my eyelids throughout the day. It doesn’t smudge everywhere and it is a decent black eyeliner for the price! It’s not the best eyeliner in the world, admittedly, however it’s a really good option as a day to day eyeliner in my opinion. With having an active job, I’ve found that my makeup tends to wander around my face throughout my day, and this has fared pretty well! The only drawback I have found is that if your eyes water, it does then smudge a little if used on your bottom lid. Nevertheless, I would purchase this again!

If anybody has any beauty/makeup recommendations for sensitive, combination skin, please let me know in the comments!!

Thanks! xx
